Jack's OSM Ogres!11 April 2023 I've always loved Big Guy models! Trolls, giants- and of course, ogres.
OSM make some really fantastic Ogre minis- especially the Space Ogre. And of course, the fan favourite Grawdon Roarmsey.
Both of these make perfect proxy models for a Tyrannical warlord and a chef-wizard to help BUTCHER the foe. (Hint, hint). Ok, the Space Ogre is technically Sci--Fi rather than fantasy, but I'll pretend he's been mutated by weird magic. And remember, an extra arm just means he can shove food in his mouth 50% faster!
Although goblin-skin green is the natural choice for Old School bases, I thought it would be fun to do the army with a snowy, winter theme.
Snow is one of the easiest DIY basing materials to make, and I'll show you how to do it in a later blog post. But the best thing about it is you don't have to be too neat, as if you get any on the model's feet- that's just snow on their boots!
Both these models were painted almost entirely in Army Painter Speed Paints. Partly because the bright colours work perfectly with an Old School aesthetic, but mainly because I'm too lazy to do layering, highlights, or any of that nonsense. If you're looking for a paint range that compliments OSM minis, the Speed Paint range works really well.
Over the next few weeks, I'll show you how to make your own snowy basing material, and (if Jamie lets me) show you the rest of my Ogre horde. Until then, stay frosty!
